The Spaniard has decided to leave the Allianz Arena this summer after seven years with the Bundesliga giants.
The 29-year-old has one year left on his deal at Bayern and has told the club that he wants to leave for a new challenge.
Bayern are seeking around €30m (£27m) for the midfielder but reports over the weekend claimed Liverpool were unwilling to splash out on the former Barcelona star as Klopp is content with his midfield options.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Klopp recently held talks with Thiago and stressed his desire to sign him this summer.

‘Thiago and Klopp have been in talks for weeks, he wants to join Liverpool.’
Klopp made it clear how much he wants to sign Thiago and the Spaniard reciprocated the feeling, telling the German he wishes to move to Anfield.
Despite the progress in talks, Liverpool are yet to submit an opening bid for the 29-year-old but any offer is unlikely to meet Bayern’s £27m asking price.
‘Liverpool don’t want to pay Bayern’s asking price and have not submitted a bid,’ said Romano.
