Ian Wright says Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen got ‘roughed up’ by Sheffield United and Frank Lampard ‘got it wrong’

The Blues’ hopes of securing a Champions League berth took a heavy blow after losing 3-0 at Bramall Lane on Saturday and they could slip to fifth place if Leicester City and Manchester United beat Bournemouth and Aston Villa respectively – both of whom are in the relegation zone.
Chris Wilder’s side were on top from the first whistle, with David McGoldrick bagging a brace either side of a header from strike partner Oliver McBurnie, and the duo caused Chelsea’s centre-backs problems all match.

Showing an example of McBurnie sending Christensen crashing to the floor after the ball had gone, Wright said on Match of the Day: ‘Well the thing about it is, I think that’s what’s happened to him a couple of times, Christensen. He’s just absolutely bowled him over.
‘I think that he got a little bit roughed up today. You see them both [Sheffield United’s strikers] in the middle, Reece James gets dragged in, but look at the time [McBurnie] has in there. Frank will be very disappointed with that.

Frank Lampard speaks out on Antonio Rudiger after dire Chelsea cameo in Sheffield Utd loss
Furious Frank Lampard rips into Chelsea players after Sheffield United defeat ‘That’s the way it was today. They lacked the same intensity that Sheffield United had and Sheffield just ran away with it.
‘Toni Rudiger came on and wasn’t quite with the pace of the game, unfortunately couldn’t sort his feet out [for the third goal].’
Despite being critical of Chelsea’s players, Wright also acknowledged that Lampard had been naïve in his initial approach in the match – changing the side’s shape at half-time to match United’s formation – though still thinks the season has been positive.

‘But I think you still have to look at it positively. What happened to him at the start of the season, the embargo, the kids he’s had to use, staying in the top four, best player gone in Hazard. So I think there’s still a lot to look forward to for them, he’s just got to get their attitudes right.’
